Temporary Structures

The Temporary Structures Committee will inform and educate engineering practitioners and promote research in the levels of design and specification detail recommended for each sub-category of temporary structures. This will be accomplished through the use of forums, publication of technical papers, site visits promoted by committee members and supported by the members' employers, written recommendations that are made available to engineering practitioners and the evaluation of existing guidelines and specifications. The committee will work to make various government agencies aware of the importance of temporary structures and the lack of adequate knowledge about the actual loads applied to temporary structures and the actual strength considering the fact that temporary structures are reused and their members get damaged during installation, dismantling, and transportation cycles.
