Public comments for the NPRM on Cranes and Derricks in Construction are due on December 8, 2008. ASCE has requested an extension for the public comment period. Over 150 students from 12 different universities attended the three-day workshop packed with technical sessions, site tours, and networking opportunities for construction engineering students. Proposed CI Bylaws: A meeting of the Construction Institute Board of Governors will be held on January 15, 2009. Among the items to be considered are amendments to the Institute's bylaws. Pursuant to Article XIII of the Institute's current bylaws, Institute members are to be notified at least 90 days prior to board action on the proposed amendments. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) introduced new specifications for its Civil Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) examination that will apply starting with the April 2008 exam administration. As part of the revised specifications, a new depth module in construction engineering has been added.
