Robert F. "Bobby" Clair
Director of Engineering for Special Projects, SCDOT



Bobby Clair is the Director of Engineering for Special Projects at the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). He has been with the SCDOT for over 36 years and has held numerous positions including Project Engineer, Resident Engineer, District Construction Engineer and District Engineering Administrator. Bobby's duties include managing the largest infrastructure project in the history of the SCDOT — the Cooper River Bridge. The bridge is a design-build project with a total cost of $632 million. When completed, it will be the longest cable stay bridge in North America and will span the Cooper River from Charleston, SC to Mount Pleasant SC.
