The Knightdale Bypass is a major connector being constructed outside of Raleigh, North Carolina and around the city of Knightdale. This $131 million dollar project was put out to bid as a design build project with a 38 month duration. It has six lanes of concrete highway through a rural area 10 miles long and connects to the I-440 loop road on the east side of Raleigh. The Project includes 15 bridge sites with 23 structures through rural farmland and over local roads and waterways. This presentation will be an overview of the project including design presentation, construction related project engineering, and specific challenges encountered during design and construction.
