Specifications Committee
Committee MembersChair: Eli Abdallah P.E., M.ASCE
Purpose: To formulate recommendations for improving the quality of construction specifications and upgrading the qualifications of the specifications engineer.The committee members have a combined total of 200+ years of engineering experience in the use of contract documents and specifications.
The Specifications Committee has created a number of tools, including:
- Preparing Specifications for Design-Bid-Build Projects, which is being edited for a second edition publication;
- A short course on the “Preparation of Contract Documents and Specifications,” which is offered through ASCE Continuing Education, and has been presented at multiple locations;
- Preparing Requests for Proposals and Specifications for Design-Build projects, an updated manual published the last quarter 0f 2009, with an accompanying seminar to be presented as directed by the Construction Institute; and
- Engineering Project Specification Standard, a proposed modification to CSI’s Master Format. The committee is seeking feedback on the outline, with the goal in mind of submitting it to CSI for consideration.
